What is Soul Sleep and Do the Holy Scriptures Disprove It? – Part 1 of 2
Before I start to answer this mind numbingly dumb question, let me be clear about its origin, for it is not from my pen. It’s from the pen of a man from the Christian Religion, now there’s a surprise!! Just for the record, these articles could and perhaps should have been entitled: Does Mankind Have an Immortal Soul? For this is what these two articles are about – the mythological ‘immortal soul’.
Before we start, though, the first thing we need to know is, what ‘soul sleep’ is, or perhaps it would be better to know what it isn’t. ‘Soul sleep’ is just a confusing term conjured up by deluded mainstream Christian tricksters, principally Roman Catholics, to challenge The Truth – The Truth that Christians die just like everyone else and know nothing. Always remember, folks, confusion is the name of the game and it’s one of Satan’s favourite tools and he uses it regularly, through his servants in the counterfeit Christian religion.
So what is the nub of this matter? Well, as always, it depends upon whom you are asking, for it can mean different things to different people. ‘Soul sleep’ in truth or to those who are seekers of The Truth it means death, for to ‘fall asleep’ in New Testament terminology means to die, plain and simple. The problem papists cause, with their mickey mouse ideas, is this: “Yes, we die, but our ‘immortal souls’ then float off to heaven or they’re whisked off to hell to burn for all eternity.” Now is this true, and if it is true, how do ‘immortal souls’ burn anyway? Are you getting the picture? I do hope so.
1 Cor 15:6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
Some have fallen asleep = some have died, are still in their graves, and know nothing. Furthermore, they will continue to know nothing until the first resurrection which will take place at the time of the Lord’s return to this earth.
1 Cor 15:20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
For: “of them that slept” the Greek mss reads: “of the ones having been put to repose” or those that have been laid in their graves – dead, and who now know nothing.
1 Cor 15:21-23 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.
Notice, first, Paul says: “since by man came death and by a man came the resurrection.” Notice, it doesn’t say; and by a man came ‘immortality of the soul’. Then, second, he says: “as in Adam all die” well that’s pretty universal, is it not? He then says: Christ is the first to be resurrected and afterwards they that are His at His coming; i.e. those in their graves and those that are still alive when He returns. There is no resurrection of the dead until the Lord Jesus Christ returns to this earth – none!! This, in turn, means that any teaching that states Christians are floating around aimlessly in heaven is nothing but a pack of lies and/or “fantasy world” twaddle. It also means, too, that those who have died in their sins are not burning in their cuckoo land, non existent fiery hell, either.
OK, so what does all this mean from the deluded religious perspective? Well, as mentioned, I recently received an e-mail from a Roman Catholic directing me to a certain wretched web page where they actually say the Holy Scriptures don’t say what they are saying. How amazing is that? Now, I know these delusional mortal souls put their faith in a certain pathetic human being whom they consider to be infallible, but this is syllogistic mind games gone mad. Here are the first of the Holy Scriptures involved:
Eccl 9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
These people say that the above verse is used to ‘defend’ ‘soul sleep’. Well I have news for them, it not only defends it, but it proves ‘soul sleep’, unless of course they have a problem with basic English. They then quote this next verse to try and make a case for their ‘soul awake’ or ‘immortal soul’ nonsense, but, notice what they are doing:
Eccl 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
What these people are doing is jumping to the fantastical conclusion that the spirit that returns to God is the ‘soul awake’ or our ‘immortal soul’ returning to God, i.e. that the soul does not die, and it returns to God, but is this true? As always, let’s check it out to see if it is so, and I will go to Ezekiel for the first proof:
Ezek 18:4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
Ezek 18:20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
Now if you had any doubt about the mortality of the soul, that doubt should now no longer exist, for the Lord through Ezekiel has taken the trouble to tell us twice that souls that sin, die, and just in case you are not sure who that includes, that’s all of mankind. So if souls die, where do these Christian religious blasphemers get the idea that souls are immortal? Easy, from Ancient Egypt, that’s where, plus from all the other illegitimate idolatrous religions that Rome has incorporated into its diabolical satanic system. We need also to understand that nearly all the heathens of the ancient world were buried with as many personal effects as possible, for use in their hallucinatory and imaginary afterlife and none more so than the Egyptian Pharaohs. This is where Rome’s immortal soul idea originates, as do their trinity beliefs, and, none of it ever came from the Holy Scriptures.
As an aside, if we compare the Ancient Egyptians with the BC Celts and Anglo-Saxons (Isaacs Sons) or the migrating Israelites as they crossed Europe from the Middle East, they would frequently go into battle naked, knowing that if they died in battle they would need nothing from this world in death or, for their future, in any resurrection.
OK, I know, that for some, Ezekiel will not be enough proof to show that souls die, so I will now show how the words ‘spirit’ and ‘soul’ from Ecclesiastes mean two very different things. So what, exactly, is a ‘soul’? In the Hebrew it translates from the word ‘nephesh’ and means: “a breathing creature”. Now here’s a very straight forward question: since when did ‘a breathing creature’ ever have immortality? I will leave all you Christian religious ‘experts’, out there, the right to reply, but somehow I don’t think I am going to hear from you on this point.
Now what about this word ‘spirit’, that has obviously been taken as meaning the same thing as a ‘soul awake’ or an ‘immortal soul’ by these bright sparks? All very presumptuous on their part, I hasten to add, for when we look at the word ‘spirit’ in the Hebrew it confirms what I have already said i.e. that they are two different words entirely. ‘Spirit’ in Hebrew is called ‘ruach’ – a wind or to blow. The Holy Spirit is also referred to as a ‘baffling wind’ and the Lord Jesus Christ uses the same descriptive terminology in His discourse with Nicodemus:
John 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
Now from this evidence and proof we can plainly see that ‘spirit’ whether Holy or otherwise is abstract in nature. This, too, is how we know the trinity teaching is a fabrication, (please see my articles: “Ogre gods – The Trinity Ogre god”) for the spirit is a power or an enabler and the spirit that is mentioned in Ecclesiastes 12:7 is the spirit that is in man, in general. It is the spirit in man that enables men to be men rather than just dumb animals with nothing but instinct. This spirit is in every human being and it has no individual human identity, shape or form – it’s an invisible wind that gives our breathing creature, our soul, human abilities and intelligence in order for us to be made in the image of God. Without this spirit we would not be made in God’s image, even though we would look, physically, just the same.
Job 32:8 But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.
Here from the Book of Job we can see that the spirit given to man is given generally, it’s just one spirit, a spirit, it has no individual characteristics of the man within it. We need now to understand that when this ‘spirit’ that is in man returns to God it is His spirit, not ours. He gave it to us, even whilst still in the womb and He takes it back when we die – His spirit returns to Him. Now when we die, all our individual memories, experiences, idiosyncrasies, characteristics and identities die with us. King Solomon is unambiguous about it when he says elsewhere:
Eccl 3:19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.
There it is folks, men and beasts have one breath, and as one dies so dies the other and this is a verse that the wretched web page most definitely did not quote. To support the above it states in the Psalms:
Psalm 115:17 The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.
Psalm 6:5 For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?
Lets be clear, if we are ‘immortal souls’ and don’t experience ‘soul sleep’ you would think there would be just a tad of praise for the Lord, having been rescued from death by Him and even a little thanks perhaps!!?? Not so according to the Psalms for we go down into the ground in silence.
Now, even with all this evidence and proof, the numb skulls of the Christian religion will still not believe what I have said. Why is that? Easy, because they do not want to believe it and because they do not want to believe it, they won’t believe it – they prefer, instead, to believe lies. OK, so why are you wasting your time writing this article, I hear some of you say? Why, because there are a few, a minority, who will be reading it and will understand it as The Truth. I am not writing for the deluded masses, anymore than the Lord came to give salvation to the masses, at that time, when He walked this earth. Please read Matthew 13:10-16.
Right, I will now move on to the New Testament where we will find a new linguistic dimension to this ‘immortal soul’ or ‘soul awake’ nonsense. Again, with this ‘immortal soul’ stuff we have the issue of; are there any contradictions in the Holy Word of God? No. So why am I asking this question? Why, because in the New Testament we are no longer dealing with the Hebrew language, but rather, the Greek language and with the Greek language we unfortunately get words tainted indelibly with Greek mythological contaminations. Words like ‘hades’ which carry all manner of false, mythical, heathen, religious baggage. Anyone who has ever seen Offenbach’s light hearted operetta “Orpheus in the Underworld” will know what I mean about the Ancient Greeks and their laughable view of what they thought the afterlife was all about. Nevertheless, this is where counterfeit Christians get their ideas from about the ‘immortal soul’ i.e. from Greek, and, I might add, Roman mythology who mostly copied the Greeks. So there we have it, the Greeks with their first century version of Ancient Egyptian fairy tales. All is meaningless; all is vanity.
Moving on, if we now analyse one or two New Testament words, we should find that they tie in nicely with the Old Testament Truth that I have already revealed. Obviously, the first word is ‘soul’ and in the Greek it is translated from the word ‘psuche’ which means the same thing as the Hebrew word ‘nephesh’ – ‘a breathing creature’. This means we do have consistency from the Old to the New Testaments with the word ‘soul’ meaning exactly the same thing. So this then beggars the question; where, in the Holy Scriptures, do these deluded religious types get their mumbo jumbo ideas from, to support their ‘Alice in Wonderland’ beliefs? I will tell you and I will quote the wretched verse of corrupted Scripture that they rely upon to support their illusion that the New Testament teaches a doctrine of the ‘immortal soul’ or a different doctrine from the Old Testament:
Matt 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
So what’s going on here, because we now know that a ‘soul’ is a ‘breathing creature’? Now breathing creatures are relatively easy to kill, especially if you shoot them, attack them from behind with an axe or take them by surprise and run them through with a sword. How then does this verse make any sense when we now know that the body and soul are one and the same thing. This verse is talking about killing the body yet not being able to kill the ‘soul’ which means not being able to kill a ‘breathing creature’. Are not bodies all part of a living breathing creature!!?? I will repeat, does this verse make any sense? No, of course not, but then it’s not meant too, for it is an unholy corruption. If we now compare this verse with verse 39 of the same chapter we will begin to see what’s going on:
Matt 10:39 He that findeth his life (soul) shall lose it: and he that loseth (destroys) his life (soul) for my sake shall find it.
The word ‘life’ psuche here is the same as ‘soul’ in verse 28 and the word ‘loseth’ apollumi is the same as ‘destroys’, so let’s rewrite verse 28 using these correct translations to see if we can begin to make any sense of it:
Matt 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the life blood (the heart’s desire to do God’s will): but rather fear him which is able (or can cause us) to lose both life blood and body in hell. (Brackets mine)
OK, from this, we can now see that this verse is taking on a new meaning. Furthermore, we also have to ask ourselves who the ‘him’ is, that we are supposed to fear in this verse, for the translators have led us to believe that it is God whom we are supposed to fear, but this, dear friends, is a damnable lie. If we had left the word ‘destroy’ in there, instead of ‘loseth’, we would then have to ask who the Destroyer is, is it God or the Devil? Well we know the answer to that, don’t we? The Destroyer is one of Satan’s numerous titles. God is never known as the Destroyer; on the contrary, God is love and love is the opposite of fear, for love casts out fear, so this is yet more proof that if fear is involved, then God is not. Here is another point; would God be referred to as a ‘him’? Wouldn’t it have been more appropriate (if it were correct) to have written it: “But rather fear God who is able to” etc. etc.? The thing is, it isn’t written that way because the ‘him’ here is the Devil and he is the one who can cause us to lose our way as disciples and then end up in the Lord’s metaphorical purifying furnace having lost our part in the first resurrection. The best part of salvation.
As with the Calvinism articles I will leave it here, as part two will follow promptly.
